Big portfolio update
I've recently added a ton more sites to my portfolio, as I was finding myself in interviews staring at a collection of work that I really wished I could go back and change, rather than more recent work that I was proud of. I've also tried to make the way it is viewed a little more interesting, using thumbnails rather than a list. Looks like a widening of that page will be in order soon!
Pink Manatee
When I started using Twitter, I was posting links to articles, tutorials, design blogs et al at work so that I could read them when I got home. Rather than continue to do this (and cluttering other peoples' Twitter feeds) I designed myself a Wordpress blog so that I could keep track of design stuff I liked or found interesting. I also wanted to learn to create my own theme and this was as good a chance as any to add another string to my bow! Soon enough I'll be adding a few tutorials, collections and plenty more.
Take a look at my design blog, over at PinkManatee.co.uk - be gentle, I'm yet to finish the styling but wanted to get some articles up. If you have anything you want to contribute, feel free to get in touch, I'll obviously credit you for any articles.
Live at last
After some teething problems due to switching my hosting package to the great guys at Robik!, my new design (see the update below) is finally up. For a few days there, various chunks of CSS, images and more went walkabouts, so apologies to anyone who's been checking the site out and thank you to those who let me know.
New Design
I knocked up a rough idea for this design a while back but never got around to updating - until I remembered my previous site was one of the first I'd ever made. It needed replacing and I built this simple one to sort of replicate my own desks; full of notes, sketches & trinkets and always changing.
The idea here was to keep the site simple (the design and the HTML, CSS and Photoshop files) so that I could quickly add, remove and change little things in the background. What starts as a clear "desk" today might end up covered in doodles, stickers and dentist-reminders well into the future. I've always like the idea of an ever-changing site that still keeps it's consistency, even though layer-upon-layer of things in the background might stack up.
Who knows? I might even get a new "notepad" for the content area...
